About Cheryl

Twenty-plus years of working with leaders at the leading edge of change led to one clarifying insight: the future doesn’t reward those who resist flux — it belongs to those who flex and flow through it. That insight is the foundation of everything Cheryl does today.
Cheryl Cran is a future of work change leadership expert, keynote speaker, and author with over twenty years of experience helping leaders and organizations lead change with clarity, energy and inspired action.
She is the author of eleven books, including Super.Crucial.Human, The Art of Change Leadership and What the Flux? 44 Questions To Help You Flex and Flow Cheryl has spoken on hundreds of stages worldwide and has been recognized as #1 in Future of Work by Onalytica and Top 10 by GoCatalant.
Her work centers on Flux, Flex, and Flow — helping leaders build human adaptability, increased discernment, and next level performance in an era of constant disruption and change.
Cheryl's Philosophy on Life and Leadership
Cheryl believes that the key to living a great life — and being a fulfilled leader — lies in our ability to truly know ourselves.
These times of disruption, uncertainty, and flux are calling on us to evolve. We can experience our circumstances as things that test and challenge us, or we can see them as breadcrumbs leading us toward the best version of ourselves. The difference between those two perspectives is everything.
Cheryl’s view is that life is not defined by what happens to us — it’s shaped by our capacity to deepen our self-awareness, expand our understanding of human behavior, and strengthen our metacognition. That inner work is what creates more meaning, connection, and energy in how we lead and how we live.
Those who know Cheryl best — her friends and family — describe her as honest, truthful, and deeply committed to modeling everything she writes and speaks about in her own life. For Cheryl, this work has never been theoretical. It’s personal.
Philosophy of Flex Leadership
In a world of flux, flex is the answer
At the heart of flex leadership is a deceptively simple idea: agility is a skill, and like all skills, it can be developed.
Cheryl defines flex leadership as the ability to increase agility through thoughts, behaviors, and energy intelligence — moving beyond the limits of who we’ve been as leaders to embrace who we’re capable of becoming. The skills that define this next level of leadership include emotional intelligence, compassion, and the courage to shift from command and control to genuine collaboration.
Central to flex leadership is the ability to integrate our whole self. The experiences we have personally shape how we lead — and how we lead shapes our personal lives. These two worlds have never been as separate as we once pretended, and the leaders who acknowledge that truth lead with far greater authenticity and effectiveness. Flex leadership calls on us to be transparent and vulnerable while remaining laser-focused on accountability and results — not in spite of each other, but because of each other.
When Cheryl says the future is flex, she means it as both a prediction and a challenge. In this time of flux and uncertainty, the leaders who will thrive are those who are most agile in mind and thought, most flexible in shifting their behaviors to meet the needs of their teams, and most capable of pivoting their mindset and actions when the moment demands it.
The future belongs to those who flex.
Working together
In addition to keynote speaking, I am passionate about helping individuals and leaders who want deeper one on one support to flex and flow through change. My coach approach helps leaders reflect honestly on their role in shaping outcomes — and lead change with greater awareness, adaptability, and effectiveness. This work focuses not just on what needs to shift - but HOW to shift perspectives and behaviors that create long lasting and sustainable change.
